My kid spent two hours building a little traffic light on the display screen without me nagging him once. Switching from block coding to Python in the same kit means it'll actually grow with him instead of getting tossed aside.
The full-color display makes it way more fun than a plain circuit board, my son actually watches his code run. Python mode is a bit advanced for him still, but the block editor got him building a mini game on day one.
My daughter went from dragging blocks around on the screen to writing actual Python in about three weeks. The built-in sensors are what sold me, she made a little alarm that goes off when her brother opens her door. Display is bright and the battery easily lasts a whole afternoon of tinkering.
