Met de Mecanum-wielen van Makeblock kan je robot niet alleen vooruit en achteruit, maar ook zijwaarts bewegen. Met 4 Mecanum-wielen bouw je een auto/robot die in alle richtingen kan bewegen.
Bought four of these to build an omnidirectional base and the rollers spin smooth right out of the box. Sideways movement actually works, which still feels a little like cheating. Mounting holes lined up fine with my 100mm frame.
Strafe mode is stupid fun — the bot slides sideways like it's on ice once all four are bolted on. The 100mm size gives decent ground clearance on carpet too. Took an evening to get the roller orientation right, but worth it.
Mounted four of these on an Arduino base and the sideways drift is smooth, no jerking at all. The rollers spin freely right out of the box, which I didn't expect at this price. Took my robot from clunky tank turns to actual omnidirectional movement.
